Most of the review article is a technical description of the CN-6000 KVM on the NETTM:
ATEN International has presented for remote server management a new version of CN-6000 KVM on the NETTM with
definite broader feature list. CN6000 offers now remote access to KVM switches or servers via LAN, WAN or Internet
connection, allows RADIUS service and a simultaneous log-in up to 32 users. Furthermore autorized users can communicate
via message board. CN-6000 can be upgraded with the broad range of new features.
The CN-6000 supports TCP/IP and HTTP as well as the network standards 10Base-T and 100Base-T so the device allows
administrators to remotely access KVM switches.
This solution allows the problem-free integration of existing, independent operating systems (Windows, Linux, DOS). The
device offers a superior video resolution up to 1600x1200 DDC2B the highest graphical quality availiable. Installed programs
can be upgraded via internet update. Adressing the increasing security rquirements, CN-600 works with 1024-Bit encrypting to
secure the data, supports the encoding standards DES,AES,SSL and provides filter für IP and Mac addresses. To prevent any
intrudes, this options offers the activation of the Stealth Mode or the deactivation of the Echo Mode.
The device is shipped with Windows and Aplet Java. Aplet Java allows the remote access via operating systems supporting
Sun Java 2 Version 1.4. The implemented firmware enables the storage of all base features and informations.
The last paragraph says:
"As described the tested product has lots of advantages but also one minor blemish: Sometimes, especialy when using Java-Client, a little delay and loss in quality could be noticed in the image transmission. Nevertheless the device makes
administration of several servers easy and convenient because administation can be managed from any PC outside the server
room, even off site."
