ATEN Lifts KVM Technology to New Level through Ethernet, USB 2.0, Audio Integration

The First KVME Switch Combines All Workstation Necessities for More Desktop Space, and Less the Cost
Taipei, July 1st 2005. ATEN International, leading provider of connectivity solutions, has set a new milestone in the development of KVM technology with the release of the new 2 and 4 port, Ethernet switch hub and USB 2.0 hub embedded, Master View CS-1772 and CS-1774 KVME (Ethernet) Switches. This revolutionary switches stick out through the integration of several connectivity options including Ethernet, USB 2.0 and audio in one highly compact device. With the CS-1772 and CS-1774, the user is able to control different computer systems, such as PC, Mac, Sun or Linux platforms, from one single console. Furthermore, the integrated Ethernet switch hub and USB 2.0 hub allow user to access the network and share peripherals among the computer systems. This means more desktop space and significant reduction of expenditure for the user.

The CS-1772 and CS-1774 are designed for multiple platforms users, fast-paced SOHO environments and technology enthusiasts. The 2 port CS-1772 allows the connection of two, the 4-port CS-1774 of four different computer systems. The audio enabled switches incorporate a 2 port USB 2.0 Hub and an Ethernet Hub, which eliminate the need to purchase separate hubs or external peripherals, such as print servers, modem splitters or the like. With Master View CS-1772 or CS-1774 users just need one set of USB keyboard, USB mouse, monitor and audio to control two (CS-1772) or four (CS-1774) computers. The keyboard and mouse signals are being transmitted to the computers by a fast and reliable USB bus, while the integrated 2 port USB Hub permits access to any peripherals connected.

"With the design of these switches we have focused on the ambitious user in demanding home and small office environments", says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. " The user can compose, for instance, his music on the Mac, doing programming work on the Sun and administrate database or gaming on the PC - all at the same time, switching between the applications easily and fast. Additionally the user has audio options, and access to the same printer or USB peripherals if he likes to."

ATEN's new CS-1772 and CS-1774 utilize front panel push buttons and support the hotkey function for switching between computers, which makes changing of the platform (PC, Mac, Sun, Linux) effortless and fast. The integrated DDC2B (Display Data Channel) emulation technology guarantees that there is no loss of video image through the switching process. In addition, the user can also easily share information between the different computers in having access to any attached peripheral device, like digital camera, iPod or printer, through any of the connected computers.

Thanks to the Plug `n Play function the setup of the KVME Switches is very easy. Only plugging in the cables and no additional software/installation routines are required. The switches allow also "Hot Plug"
- the user can add or remove peripheral devices and/or computers any time.

Both switches show a very compact design with a extremely small footprint: The 2 port CS-1772 measures 210mm x 88mm x 55mm and its big brother, the 4 port CS-1774 needs just 270mm x 88mm x 55mm on the desk.
About the KVM Switch

KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switches are control units that allow access to multiple computers from a single console. Before the development of KVM switches, the only way to control multiple computers from a single console was through a complex and costly network. Now, with the KVM switch, people can easily access multiple computers or platforms (from 2 to up to 4096) in a convenient, space saving and cost effective manner.
