ATEN International,
leading provider of connectivity solutions,
today announced its entry into the wireless
KVM space with the newest KW1000 KVM over
Wireless. This wireless solution is the first
KVM* enhancement to wirelessly communicate
with KVM switches and network computers. Administrators
can simply use a notebook to control hundreds
of servers of most different platforms without
physical connection or stationary basis. As
the administration gets easier and faster
the overall costs for maintenance and service
of the network infrastructure are being considerably
reduced.
"Our
KVM wireless technology allows administrators
to manage their systems in a convenient, fast
and cost-saving way. They are no longer tied
to their work place, but can lock the server
room door behind them with a safe conscience.
With the KW1000, mobile server room management
becomes a reality." says Kevin Chen,
President of ATEN International.
The KW1000 eliminates the cables that would
normally run from a computer to a KVM switch
and digitizes the keyboard/video/mouse data
and sends the signal back and forth over
an 802.11 wireless link. This allows administrators
to remotely access the compatible KVM switch
and hundreds of servers at a distance of
up to 100 meters (300 feet) using a notebook
or PC equipped with a wireless LAN card.
The KW1000 offers the 802.11b protocol
for more extended range versus the wireless
limitations of other units that offer 802.11a.
To compensate for this lack of functionality,
these other units that offer 802.11a require
both a wireless transmitter and receiver
to expand its range; whereas the KW1000
is an all inclusive device. The KW1000 also
offers an industry-leading 1600x1200 DDC2B
video resolution that is significantly higher
than other Wireless KVM solutions that provide
a mere 1024x768 resolution.
Simple
operating tools guarantee optimal management
of the KW1000. The included administration
tool allows to remotely configure servers,
manage user profiles and carry out firmware
and software updates without the KW1000
being on the spot. In addition to a Windows
Client, KW1000 can be accessed from all
operating systems via an Internet browser
and Java Client.
During the development of the KW1000 technology,
ATEN had a strong focus on the increasing
security standards of companies. The KW1000
works with RSA 1024 encryption for safe
and secure data transfer, and allows the
definition of user profiles, passwords and
access rights which the administrator may
control by using the administration utilities.
The KW1000 security standards include IP
and Mac filters, SSL3.0 and SSL2.0 support
as well as firewall functionality.
