ATEN Launches NRGence™ Green Energy Line for Data Centers

eco PDUs and eco Sensors Manage Power and Control Environments to Create Energy–Efficient Data Centers

Taipei, Taiwan (February 14, 2012) – ATEN International, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced the launch of NRGence™, a brand new “green energy” line of eco PDUs (Power Distribution Units) eco Sensors, and energy boxes. With the core concept of “Energy Intelligence”, ATEN NRGence is a complete green data center solution designed to optimize the energy efficiency.

ATEN NRGence provides instant, real-time power management control and energy–saving efficiency by enabling IT managers to easily upgrade current IT resources quickly and cost effectively. With the use of dynamic Rack Cooling Index (RCI) and Return Temperature Index (RTI) by zone, eco Sensors software, in conjunction with sensor-enabled eco PDUs, gives IT managers the means to assess, diagnose and estimate how and where energy can be saved.

“Once considered more novel than practical, energy efficient data center technologies are expected to represent 28 percent of total market investment by 2015, according to a recent study by Pike Research. The release of the NRGence range demonstrates ATEN´s determination to enter the green data center market, and we will continuously to develop and expand our green energy products range” said Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. “When looking to increase efficiencies, organizations have historically focused exclusively on IT resources, but ATEN NRGEnce also maximizes the energy efficiency of non–IT resources, which represents 80 percent of a data center´s power consumption.”

Our eco PDUs offer remote power control combined with real–time power measurement, allowing IT managers to control and monitor the power status of devices attached to the PDUs, either at the PDU device or outlet level, from practically any location via a TCP/IP connection.

Key features include:
• ATEN exclusive “Lock n Plug” design – Lock server plugs onto eco PDUs to secure power connection; prevents power plug from dropping off and enhances the security of usage.
• Analysis – Trend power capacity and temperature peaks in order to reduce power consumption by 30 percent.
• Trend charts – Display in real–time or according to day, month, season or year, improving the allocation of power resources.
• Environment management – Real–time and continuous Rack Cooling Index (RCI) and Return Temperature Index (RTI) data.
• User friendly interface – With the GUI of eco Sensors management software, IT administrators can easily configure the air conditioner status and prevent overheating and overcooling.

There are four ATEN eco PDUs – intelligent PDUs that provide secure, centralized and intelligent power management –  which vary by outlet type and the measurement of PDU or outlet power: PE6108, PE6208, PE8108 and PE8208.

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
