ATEN Enhances Multi-Console 32-Port Matrix KVM Switches for Today´s Demanding Enterprise Data Centers

New Features of the Enterprise Product Line Include MultiView Support, Console Expansion, and Advanced Dongle Functionality to Enable Redundant Configuration of Matrix KVM Environments

Taipei, Taiwan (December 10, 2012) – ATEN International, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced enhancements to its best-selling Enterprise KVM Solutions product line. The KM0932 and KM0532 multi-console, 32-port Matrix KVM switches are designed for today´s complex enterprise data center environments that require reliable, high security access and control of multiple servers.

The KM0932 and KM0532 allow nine and five consoles to independently and simultaneously manage up to 32 directly connected servers. Each switch can be daisy chained, cascaded, or both, providing flexible expansion configurations that allow up to nine consoles to control thousands of servers with distance support up to 300 meters.

New features of the KM0932 and KM0532 include MultiView functionality and console expansion that supports up to 18 consoles using the KA7178 Dual Output KVM adapter cables or via a Dual Root configuration. Dongles with advanced functionality are also available to support Matrix KVM products. For example, the KA7178 adapter cable provides a redundant user path to keep the operation up and running. Moreover, utilizing the KA7177 adapter cable, the KM0932 and KM0532 switches support smart card readers for user identification.

The MultiView functionality supports multiple consoles to simultaneously access a computer using multiple video cards to connect to multiple ports on the switch. This is ideal for applications in broadcasting, digital signage and automated production lines that require real-time monitoring.

“ As enterprise organizations rapidly deploy multiple servers to support an array of business-critical applications, they need secure and reliable access to control and manage them,”  explained Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. “ ATEN´s Matrix KVM Solutions have been successfully applied in data centers of various industries worldwide. To fully meet the new market demands, we further enhanced the KM0932 and KM0532 with more advanced features for secure, real-time control of today´s data center resources. ”

More key features of the KM0932 and KM0532 include:
• Multicast Audio Support – gives multiple console access to the same KVM port, which allows both to listen to the audio being broadcast by that port
• Virtual Media Function – allows USB storage devices to be shared across all servers. Operators can perform file transfers or install applications and OS patches from a single console, thereby reducing down-time and saving maintenance costs
• Superior Video Quality Support – achieved through the incorporation of several dey features, including Auto Signal Compensation (ASC), storing of EDID information on the server´s adapter cable, and ATEN´s patented Deskew Technology
• Power Over the NET™ integration for power control

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
