ATEN Sues Unisum and Hardlink in China for Patent Infringement

Strong protest to patent infringement with active action to stop vicious competition in trade

Taipei, Taiwan (June 8, 2015) - ATEN International, the world-leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity and management solutions, today announced that it officially filed patent enforcement actions in the Beijing Intellectual Property Court on June 3, 2015 against KVM vendors Unisum of Shenzhen and Hardlink of Beijing for patent infringement of its KVM switches. It further requested them to immediately stop such illegal actions, stop selling relevant products, and compensate for economic losses caused to ATEN International.

According to ATEN International, while innovation and R&D and global patent deployment are its core competitive strengths and proprietary assets, the company has accumulated over 600 worldwide patents, including 85% that have been commoditized. As a world KVM leader, ATEN International has a market share of 55.8%, ranking top of the world in 2014. This suggests that it is a powerful patent owner and market leader in the KVM business.

ATEN International is glad to protect pioneering patented technology and intellectual property with worldwide leaders through patent licensing, so as to promote the positive development of the industry and create market value with them. ATEN International also strongly protests against any act of infringement and plagiarism. ATEN International will take proper legal action against anyone or any vendor infringing its intellectual property without official licensing and refusing to make positive response after negotiation, to safeguard its own and proper legal rights and benefits and take active measures to stop vicious competition in trade.

The current litigation includes two defendants: Unisum of Shenzhen and Hardlink of Beijing. After collecting solid evidence of infringement, ATEN International officially filed litigation with the Beijing Intellectual Property Court concerning KVM switch patent infringement against these two vendors and requested that they immediately stop all acts of infringement, so as to safeguard the fruit of its patent technology and intellectual property developed over time.

Over the years, ATEN International has enjoyed global recognition of its powerful capacity and competitiveness in global patent deployment. In 2009 and 2012, the company even won the Enterprise Contribution Award and Invention Silver Award from the “National Invention and Creation Awards” organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, ROC. In May 2015, it even won the 3rd Taiwan Mittelstand Award organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. All these are solid recognitions for the persistent effort of the company’s global patent deployment. Apart from the unanimous acclaim from all industries, the inventions of ATEN International are highly useful to enable the company to create proud patent value and demonstrate high global competitiveness.
