ATEN Wins Computex Best Choice Award
VM0808T Cat 5 A/V Matrix Switch Impresses Judges with Innovation and Market Potential

Taipei, Taiwan, May 25, 2011. ATEN International, a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of cutting-edge connectivity solutions, has won the Computex Best Choice award again this year. The VM0808T Cat 5 A/V Matrix Switch emerged from the pack, taking top honors with its show of innovation, technical prowess and market potential.

Computex Taipei began organizing the "Best Choice of COMPUTEX TAIPEI Award" in 2002. Judges are comprised of individuals coming from public, academic and research sectors, as well as chief editors in the media. They evaluate products based on uniqueness, innovation and export potential. Due to the strict judging process, a Computex award brings about great prestige, thus attracting entries from local and foreign vendors. A total of 446 products were nominated this year, but only 34 made the cut. By winning the award two years in a row, ATEN demonstrates its leadership in product development and market insight.

"Computex Best Choice has always been a landmark award sought by outstanding local and foreign vendors each year. ATEN is honored to win the award again this year. The VM080T 8-input / 8-output Cat 5 A/V Matrix Switch that won the award is the flagship product of VanCryst™ Professional A/V Solution series. The switch incorporates various advanced features and is designed to meet future trends in market applications. The award is well deserved and gives us a boost in our efforts to develop the professional A/V market." says Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International.

The VM0808T is a versatile audio/video over Cat 5 + serial solution that, in combination with the VE500 A/V over Cat 5 A/V extender, offers a cost effective and easy way to route any of 8 audio/video sources to any of 8 displays over distances of up to 300m. In addition to the eight Cat 5 connections, the VM0808T also contains local audio/video inputs/outputs which allows an extra source device and monitor located on the same rack as the VM0808T to function as an additional transmitter and receiver.

The VM0808T supports "Over IP" operation, which allows it to seamlessly integrate with any existing network infrastructure. VM0808T also offers several convenient ways to access and control multiple source devices both locally and remotely. That is, locally through the use of front panel pushbuttons and an RS-232/RS-485 serial port; and remotely, over the Internet with a browser-based web page interface or via a Telnet session.

The VM0808T Matrix Switch supports superior Wide-screen High Definition video – up to 1920x1200@60Hz with stereo and balanced audio. The audio and video sources can be switched independently; any audio source can be connected to any video source for output flexibility. In addition, the VM0808T provides the capability for unique scalability and connectivity, allowing users to place their displays in the most favorable and eye-catching locations, while discreetly and securely deploying the control units in a separate, dedicated room for easy servicing and maintenance

About KVM Switches-An Essential Server Management Device

A KVM (Keyboard, Video and Mouse) switch is an advanced, hardware-based solution that allows centralized access to multiple computers easily and conveniently from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse. A KVM switch is useful in an extensive range of environments, suitable for SOHO users, small and medium businesses, and large corporations. Fundamentally, a KVM switch allows server rooms and data centers to optimize rack space in the IT environment, reducing costs and the clutter of keyboards, monitors and mice. Additional benefits include savings in energy consumption, server racks, cabinets, and floor space. Since a KVM switch provides access to a number of computers from a central location, IT professionals are no longer running from one server to the next, thereby streamlining workflow and increasing productivity. To meet the ever-developing needs of the globalized economy and the Internet, KVM solutions now have over-IP functionality for remote management capability that better fulfills the demands of corporations who need to manage multiple server rooms worldwide.
