Smart Healthcare

Paratechno, a leading provider of healthcare equipment and services, sought an advanced power management solution to seamlessly integrate with its Paramount Bed state-of-the-art hospital and nursing care beds. The innovative Smart Bed System™ is designed to work in harmony with various remote healthcare monitoring devices, enhancing both patient care and operational efficiency.

Hospital administrators identified a critical need for remote power control across multiple patient rooms, ensuring that essential medical devices and appliances could be managed efficiently. The challenge was to implement a compact, scalable, and secure power management system that could be deployed across numerous Smart Beds in multiple hospital wards, streamlining operations and significantly reducing staff workload.

Managing over a thousand hospital beds manually would have been an overwhelming task, requiring 20,000 steps per day. The centralized power management provided by PE4104 has significantly improved efficiency and operational workflow.

Mr. Yoshitomo Nagamine, Senior Expert, Paramount Bed

Since remote power control and bedside information sharing are core requirements, precise setup of the PE4104 in bedside units is critical to avoid installation errors and ensure smooth operation.

Mr. Noriyuki Nakagawa, Chief of Paratechno

Installation Considerations

The system is centrally managed via a server-based control system in the hospital’s management room, enabling administrators to control bedside devices remotely without the need for physical intervention. The PE4104AJ plays a crucial role in this infrastructure, managing power distribution for refrigerators, service outlets, and Blu-ray players (in pediatric wards) through Telnet-based remote power management.
To ensure error-free deployment and smooth operation, meticulous installation procedures were followed:
  • Routers were positioned in an L-shape so that indicator lights remain visible, even when enclosed.
  • LAN cables were color-coded, and labels were added for each connected device (e.g., “outlet,” “refrigerator,” “Blu-ray player”) to ensure proper power allocation.
  • Proper setup was critical to preventing installation errors and maintaining system reliability, ensuring remote access and control functions operated seamlessly.
The integration of PE4104AJ with Paramount Bed’s Smart Bed System™ has revolutionized power management in the hospital wards. By reducing staff workload, enhancing device reliability, and ensuring robust security, this solution has set a new standard for smart hospital infrastructure, optimizing both patient care and operational efficiency.
