FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ATEN Introduces New KVM Control Center that Supports Multi-View Console
Access of Four or More Computers from a Single Screen
The CM1164 Four-port USB DVI-D KVMP Control Center is Designed for Control Rooms,
Monitoring Systems and Other Workplace Environments

Foothill Ranch,(February 5, 2013) –ATEN, a leading designer and manufacturer of advanced connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of the CM1164, a new KVM switch that provides multi-view console access and control of four or more computers from a single screen. The CM1164 is a four-port USB DVI-D KVMP control center, allowing users to switch seamlessly between four DVI-enabled computers, and share USB peripherals from a single console. It is ideal for control rooms, monitoring systems, traffic, military control systems, security cameras, weather centers, and other workplace environments.

“To improve the operational efficiency of intensive monitoring applications, there needs to be a fast and convenient way to view and manage multiple computers simultaneously, permitting instantaneous response times from a single location,” said Kevin Chen, President of ATEN International. “The CM1164 charts a new direction in KVM switch functionality by combining a four-port DVI-D switch with a two-port USB hub, to provide flexible display modes to fully meet demands.”

The new KVM control center offers three flexible display modes – Quad View, Picture in Picture and full screen. With Picture in Picture (PIP), users can view two, three or four panes from a single monitor with up to 1920 x 1200 resolution at 60Hz. The CM1164 allows users to change size and location of each video source and easily click on demand to control computers via hardware cursor function. In addition, the drag-and-drop capability for PIP mode provides an intuitive interaction which users can easily master.

There are many different ways to access the computers and switch between video channels and display modes, such as front panel push button, hotkeys, IR remote control and On screen Display (OSD) via console mouse. The CM1164 can be easily configured via the OSD, which contains a wide variety of features (DCC, Display Mode, Port selection, Channel Editor, and so on), allowing user to access, control, configure and display input sources. The intuitive interface reduces the configuration time drastically, as well as the amount of configuration errors. A method to store and recall up to four preset configurations further enhances the unit’s capabilities.

As many as four CM1164 units can be linked together, enabling users easily to connect and control up to additional three CM1164 through Daisy Chain Control (DCC) mode using a single RJ45 cable. The expandability of the CM1164 provides additional flexibility and allows users to monitor and control up to four sets of PCs in real-time with one console keyboard and mouse. Each PC group composes of four computers controlled by a dedicated monitor. It provides users with the capacity to manage increased system complexities in the future.

Through ATEN’s exclusive Video DynaSync technology, the CM1164 automatically detects the horizontal and vertical offset values of each computer’s display settings and synchronizes them with the central monitor, ensuring that screen resolution is always correct when switching ports.
