Meeting & conference rooms

The University of L’Aquila was founded in 1952 and quickly established itself as a prominent institute for higher education. Over 19.000 students are enrolled in the university, divided over seven departments.

To accommodate these growing numbers with the best education possible, several rooms were adjusted with new audio and video equipment. Two lecture halls now feature ATEN solutions that are both easy to use and still provide full control over AV applications. An additional conference room was refurbished with a centralized system to ensure efficient collaboration.

Three rooms

The first project is located in the central building. This room is called the 'Council room', which needs a management system for video sources and monitors up to 4K. These 4K signals are sent by a desktop PC with a 4K output as source, a VGA source, video source from a CCTV or video source from a Skype meeting. These video signals must be controlled in a technical room (control room). In this room, controllers require the ability to add other video sources like: DVD, CCTV with local control, etc. All those requirements/video sources are controlled by ATEN's VM0808HB matrix switch.

The second project is located in the meeting and conference room. All control is centralized at the presentation table as well as the technical room. For usability reasons, the system has to be activated with a single switch-button. The HDMI and VGA extender, built in the conference table, ensures automatical video detection. (FOLLOWING SENTENCE IS INCOMPLETE) the control of audio signals from the microphones, wireless microphones and video sources. A large monitor is the highlight of the room, anything displayed on this screen will also be visible on two smaller screens. All video settings will be handled from the control room, where an operator works at a dual monitor setup.

The last project is located in the lecture hall, where the teaching facilities got an update. Particular attention was paid to the sound system, due to the large space of the hall, by implementing long array lines. The table was tooled with table towers for the HDMI and VGA connections via one video presentation switch, power distribution, USB support and Ethernet connection. In the technical room one matrix was used for source selection such as the table, DVD, TV cameras in the hall or other signals from the building.
